ICOM-ICTOP announce a call for candidates from all regions to apply for the ICTOP Travel Grants for young ICOM Members to attend the 2023 ICOM meeting jointly organised by 4 ICOM ICs (INTERCOM, ICTOP, MPR, ICMAH), especially ICOM-ICTOP members from the South America.

Category A – travel grant

The grant (one, up to maximum of 2) will provide assistance for an airfare (economy fare), an accommodation and a conference registration fees (the last is free of charge). Grants will be realised as reimbursement of paid airfare and accommodation (a prove of payment, receipts will be needed). Other expenses such as insurance coverage, visa costs, local transportation, meals, per diems and similar will not be covered.

Value of the individual grant will be in between 800 and 1000 Euros, depending how application do fit required criteria.

Deadline of submitting the application is September 29th, 2023 (GMT) = extended to October 4th, 2023 (GMT).

The results will be communicated before October 10th, 2023 (GMT).

Selection Criteria:

Grants are made through a competitive process and are based on demonstrated financial needs and merits. Preference will be given to candidates from countries belonging to ICOM Categories 5, 4, 3 and 2.

Grant recipients may be asked to assist the conference organiser (ICTOP) during the conference (on not very demanding tasks).

All applicants should be:

  1. 40 years of age or under (preferably 35 years of age or younger)
  2. able to write and understand English fluently
  3. part or full-time a museum worker or actively engaged in trainings of museum professionals or curatorial, education, research or developmental work related to museum practice
  4. individual or institutional member of ICOM (and ICTOP, or with clear intention to become ICTOP member)
  5. priority will be given to members from countries belonging to ICOM Categories 5, 4, 3 and 2
  6. ICOM members who have received ICTOP grants in the last three years will not be given priority for a grant in 2023
  7. candidates must be up-to-date with ICOM membership dues
  8. priority will be given to candidates with accepted paper/presentation at the conference, within ICTOP sessions
  9. priority will be given to candidates who may obtain other sources of funding to facilitate attendance

Applicants are invited to submit the following documents:

  • Completed and signed application form (please see below)
  • Curriculum Vitae indicating training, work experience as well as current work responsibilities (max. 1 page)
  • Max. 300 words motivation letter for attending the annual ICTOP conference (at the ICOM 4 ICs and ICOM Paraguay 2023 joint meeting) justifying the need and how attendance will benefit your career goals
  • Letter of recommendation from the Chair or the Board member of the applicant’s International or National Committee (recommended, not obligatory)

Aforementioned documents must be submitted with the subject “ICTOP Grant Application 2023_Your Name_Your Surname – A” no later than September 29th (GMT) to dbabic(at)ffzg.hr. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

N.B. Each grantee will be required to submit a report and/or a questionnaire within two weeks following the conference, stating his/her experience and possible contribution to ICOM & ICTOP activities. The resources for this programme are limited, accordingly applicants are required to comply with the eligibility criteria stated. Category B – covering accommodation, and local travel

The grants (in between 2 to 5) will provide assistance for the conference accommodation and the local travel costs, as no conference fee exists. Grants will be realised as reimbursement of the conference accommodation and the local travel fee (a prove of payment, receipt will be needed). Value of the individual grant will be in between 300 to 400 Euros, depending from which country/category the applicant is coming.

Deadline of submitting the application is September 29th, 2023 (GMT) = extended to October 4th, 2023 (GMT).
